Since 2014, Hotel Playa Espadilla , decided to include Climate Change Ecological Blue Flag Program, the purpose of this program is to maximize competition and minimize the risks with the effects of climate change, by reducing the use of fossil fuels , reducing the use of electricity, reforestation and reduction of paper savings in potable water use.
Blue Flag project recognizes the efforts to rescue and preserve rivers in Costa Rica . Hotel Playa Espadilla won this award for monitoring and implementation of efforts to improve the conditions of creek: ” Quebrada Shrimp ” natural boundary between our Wildlife Refuge and the Manuel Antonio National Park. The beaches to which our guests have access have Blue Flag award , ensuring purity of its waters.

Certification for Sustainable Tourism (CST), is a program of Costa Rican Institute of Tourism categorize those tourism enterprises whose operation is sustainable model in the management of natural resources, cultural and social.The award of two levels or leaves, was obtained to the Hotel Playa Espadilla on August 13, 2010, through the efforts of staff for the task given to a comprehensive work towards ecological balance, social and community of Manuel Antonio and Quepos. Green Flag – Quality Seal
The Costa Rican Institute of Aqueducts rewards companies that meet excellence standards and
requirements of water management within their facilities. Among the rules to qualify are: water saving programs and efficient use of liquid, outreach and education program aimed at customers and business partners. The Hotel Playa Espadilla received its first Green Flag in 2009 entitled to a star and in 2010 we increased this award to 4 stars, which have remained until 2013.
